My 3-Monitor Set-Up at Work
We had three 21" CRT monitors in my office, one of which I was using. Last summer, all of the new PCs purchased by my office started coming with LCD monitors, which everybody else preferred even if the LCD monitors were smaller. I find this surprising (I replaced my PC but kept my monitor), but it resulted in the other two 21" CRT monitors becoming available because nobody wanted them. My new PC has an ATI RadeonVE card, which will support 2 monitors, so when I got it I hooked up one of the unused 21" CRT monitors. Then I brought my unused PCI 3dfx Voodoo3 card from home and popped it in and connected the 3rd monitor.
It works perfectly -- and with UltraMon you can do cool things such as spreading the wallpaper across all three screens: the one shown in the pix is a panoramic shot of a train wreck from the Library of Congress's website of panoramic pictures.
